Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Students

     The Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Citizens (PFFC) of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzUAC) was established in 1984 by the order of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and is a pre-university educational institution. In recent years, the faculty has trained and certified more than 3,000 citizens from more than 60 countries of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia and the CIS.
     The main task of PF is to prepare foreign students for higher (bachelor's and master's) degrees at our university and other higher educational institutions of Azerbaijan.
     This period of study is the first step for foreign citizens coming to Azerbaijan, both in terms of adaptation to the new language environment and in terms of preparation for the study of basic subjects of higher education school.
     Education of foreign citizens at the PF is carried out on the basis of the latest textbooks and teaching aids in Azerbaijani, Russian and English, and on the basis of modern teaching methods.
     Depending on the speciality taught at the faculty, students are trained in the following areas - architecture, design, engineering, construction-economics, medical-biological, humanitarian. In addition to languages, students study painting, drawing, mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, economic and social geography and e.
     The duration of study at the preparatory faculty of AUAC is one academic year: I term - 16 weeks; II term - 16 weeks.
     Foreign citizens who have studied during the academic year and have successfully passed the final exams receive a certificate of completion of the preparatory faculty, giving them the right to continue their studies in the chosen speciality at AzUAC, as well as in other universities of Azerbaijan.
At the PF for foreign citizens, there are language courses for studying Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages for master and doctoral students. The duration of training in these courses is 6-9 months. Upon successful completion of the exams, students receive a certificate. 
     Along with the teaching, the faculty organizes various extracurricular activities – urban and suburban tours (Ghobustan, Gala, etc.), excursions to museums and exhibitions, thematic evenings and concerts, student participation in conferences. Joint teaching and extracurricular activities help students to get more information about Azerbaijan, its culture and people, and contribute to the promotion of tolerance among young people.
     Education at the PF for foreign citizens is carried out on a contractual basis. Tuition fees are paid at the beginning of the academic year.
