Masud Efendiyev, the World-Known Mathematician and Scientist visited AzUAC
An Honored scientist, Professor of the Technical University of Munich, the first Azerbaijani scientist to receive the Humboldt Prize, professor Masud Efendiyev, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, paid a visit to the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzUAC).
Rector of the university Professor Gulchohra Mammadova, friends of the scientist - Professor Etibar Pünhanov from Baku State University, Professor Azad Taghizadeh expert of the United Nations, faculty members and students took part in the meeting.
Masud Efendiyev was greeted by Professor Gulchohra Mammadova, who also expressed her pleasure to have him visit the university. She spoke about the importance of the meeting for the scientists and students of AzUAC. She noted that Masud Efendiyev is the first Azerbaijani to be awarded the “Alexander von Humboldt” prize, one of the highest awards in world science, established by the German government, also known as the “Little Nobel Prize”. He is also the only Mathematics scientist in the post-Soviet space, and the member of the editorial board of six top scientific journals of the world. The rich experience of the scientist in the field of Mathematics is of great importance for the teachers and students of AzUAC.
Professor Gulchohra Mammadova expressed her gratitude to Professor Masud Efendiyev for representing the Azerbaijani image at a high level in foreign countries, and stated that Azerbaijan has always been proud of sons like him and would remain so in the future.
Masud Afandiyev’s life was a great example for the younger generation according to Etibar Pünhanov and Azad Taghizade, colleagues and friends of the scientist who pointed out that he was always distinguished by his mathematical talent in his youth. They drew attention to the fact that, although Masud Efendiyev lived in Germany, he always contributed to the development of his homeland and people, and pointed out his contributions to the growth of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
Vice-rector for science and innovation issues of AzUAC, Professor Nigar Aslanova, spoke about Masud Efendiyev’s research achievements and his services to the community of mathematicians. Noting that his scientific articles have been cited more than 1,500 times, the vice-rector said that the scientist is the author of seven books published in Japan, Germany, USA, Canada and Switzerland.
Professor Masud Efendiyev expressed his gratitude to the rector of AzUAC, professor Gulchohra Mammadova and the speakers for the attention and kind words addressed to him. He advised the youth as Azerbaijanis to always improve their potential.
In the end, Rector Gulchohra Mammadova presented a letter of gratitude, a symbolic gift and a bouquet of flowers to Masud Efendiyev. She wished the world-known scientist good health and continued success.
