Closing ceremony of the "Seeds for the Future" Project of the Technology Giant "Huawei" Held - Student of AzUAC is Among Graduates
"Huawei Technologies Azerbaijan" recently held the closing ceremony of the "Seeds for the Future" program in Baku.
Several government and private sector officials, as well as representatives from higher education institutions attended the ceremony. Among them were the Vice-rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations Orkhan Nagdiyev, the director of Public relations and marketing center Isa Muradov, the head of Strategic Planning department Ganira Mammadzade and students from the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzUAC) who participated in the "Seeds for the Future" program.
It's worth mentioning that five students from AzUAC participated in the program and Maftuna Salmanova was one of the five winners from the country. Maftuna Salmanova, a student from the Mechanics and Information Technology faculty represented Azerbaijan at the "Huawei Seeds for the Future 2023" program held in Doha, Qatar and emerged as a winner.
During the ceremony, the CEO of Huawei Azerbaijan David Xu expressed his satisfaction with Huawei's commitment to enhancing the quality and accessibility of digital education in Azerbaijan, aiming to make the digital world more accessible to the people of Azerbaijan and ensure that every young person has access to the latest digital technologies.
Additionally, the trade and economic advisor at the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan Chi Ma, highlighted Huawei's active participation in digital transformation processes in Azerbaijan, continuing to provide high-quality products and technological services to the people of Azerbaijan.
The "Seeds for the Future" program is built on four core values: Innovation, Digitalization, Continuity and Entrepreneurship. The Innovation and Digital Development Agency has provided full support to this project throughout the process. Acting president Inara Valiyeva emphasized, "We are experiencing not only geopolitical changes but also very fruitful periods of development in the economy, especially in the field of ICT."
First launched in Thailand in 2008 and later in Azerbaijan in 2016, "Seeds for the Future" is Huawei's flagship program with the longest duration and highest investment at the corporate level. By the end of 2022, a total of 76 students from Azerbaijan had completed the program.
The rector of Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov noted that Huawei has established an ICT Academy at the leading educational institution in Azerbaijan and will soon inaugurate it.
The rector of the Azerbaijan Technology University Yashar Omarov stated, "Competition is observed in the field of training specialized talented personnel and creating a necessary ecosystem for technological development. To achieve this goal, many countries have worked out and prepared their strategies. Azerbaijan has a socio-economic development strategy planned for 2022/2026."
Five students were invited to participate in a two-week "Seeds for the Future" training program in Doha and Dubai in 2023. The Azerbaijani team has also been given the chance to compete for a startup fund worth $100,000 in the "Tech4Good" Global Competition to be held in China in 2023.
The dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Engineering at ADA University Abzatdin Adamov concluded by stating, "Regardless of which prestigious university these students come from, each of them represents Azerbaijan. They can come up with an idea that could potentially make them a partner of Huawei in the future."
