The First Meeting of the Academic Council of the 2023-2024 Academic Year was held – Salaries were Increased

The first meeting of the Academic Council of the 2023-2024 academic year held at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AUAC). The Rector of the university, Professor Gulchohra Mammadova, brought all issues on the agenda to the attention of the Council members. 

The report on “Discussion and Approval of the Work Plan of the Academic Council for 2023-2024 Academic Year” of Professor Tahira Hagverdiya, the Scientific Secretary was heard. She introduced the work plan for the new academic year to the members of the Council.

After the speech of the Scientific Secretary, the reports of Surkhay Aliyev, the Head of the Admission Commission and Rovshan Samadov, the Director of Master’s Program Center, on “Results of Students Admission in 2023-2024 Academic Year, Goals of the University and Vision for the Future” were presented. 

Surkhay Aliyev made a report reflecting the results of students’ admission to bachelor’s degree in the new academic year. According to him, the admission plan for the 2023-2024 academic year has been fulfilled by 91,1%, and by 100% in the Construction College functioning under AUAC. 

Surkhay Aliyev drew attention to the results of admission this year compared to previous years and presented analytical data on individual specialties.

In his report Rovshan Samadov, the Director of the Master’s Program Center, pointed out that students were admitted to 94,4% of the planned places in the master’s program in the new academic year. The results of the admission for MBA Program were even higher – 97,7%.

Rovshan Samadov, talked about the successes achieved and shortcomings, paying attention to the quantitative and qualitative indicators of specialties separately, and made suggestions for achieving higher results. 

After the discussion of the reports, other issues were considered. Professor Gulchohra Mammadova proposed increasing the salaries of university employees – professors and teaching, and administrative managerial staff by 20%, and the salaries of academic-support and service personnel by 15%. The proposal was discussed by the member of the Academic Council and unanimously accepted. 

For the information: According to the decision, the lowest salary at AUAC after deduction of tax payments will be 521 manats. The salary of a professor at the university after deduction of taxes will be 1,696 manats and as associate professor’s salary will be 1,404 manats.
