AzUAC Project Emerged as Winner of Competition Announced by the Science Foundation
On the eve of Victory Day, the names of the winners of the grant competition titled "Karabakh is Azerbaijan!" announced by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation have been revealed. Out of the 32 projects participating in the competition from Azerbaijan, only 8 have been selected as winners.
One of the selected projects from Azerbaijan is attributed to the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzUAC). The project, titled "Utilization of Construction Materials for the Restoration of Historical Monuments in Karabakh," was submitted under the leadership of professor IradaShirinzade, the head of the "Materials Science" department.
The project holds vital significance for the restoration of historical monuments in Karabakh. During the conflict period, historical monuments in Karabakh were either completely destroyed or severely damaged by Armenian occupiers. Even some monuments, such as the Shahbulag Fortress, were "restored" by our enemies in a crude manner, using Portland cement-based mortar to patch up eighteenth-century structures. The project focuses on the preparation and presentation of materials similar to original compositions for the restoration of such monuments.
It is noteworthy that a budget of 150,000 manats has been allocated by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation for the implementation of the project. The grant envisages a project duration of 24 months.
