AzUAC Student’s Startup Awarded First Place in the National Voting

Solmaz Fatullayeva, a student of the Faculty of Construction-Economics of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzUAC), became the winner of the biggest video presentation competition held by the British Council in 2020. In the Creative Spark Big Idea international competition, S. Fatullayeva’s business idea “Road Buddy” was awarded the 1st place in the national voting. Young people from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Armenia, and Ukrainealong with our country participated in the online competition.

The main goal of AzUAC student’s startup idea Road Buddy, is to assist visually impaired individuals in easily navigating roads. This business idea, consisting of a small device and a mobile application, ensures that visually impaired individuals can easily and safely find their way. Additionally, this device can be applied in the tourism sector. Currently, there are no similar projects or competitors in the existing market. In this case, it can easily be said that the project will turn into hope and light for millions of visually impaired people worldwide.

It should be noted that the aforementioned business competition provides an opportunity for thousands of young people (aged 18-35) to develop business ideas and entrepreneurship skills. The platform also supports young people in developing their profiles and increasing career opportunities at a time when youth unemployment is a concern and the Covid-19 pandemic has hit the world economy.
