Within Exchange Program Danyal Zarepourmoghaddam, Master’s Student at Milan Polytechnic University and Italian Citizen Studying at AzUAC Expressed His Desire to Work as an Architect in Baku in the Future: “If Given the Opportunity, I Would Like to Work as an Architect in Baku in the Future.”

The bilateral relations established between the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzUAC) and Milan Polytechnic University continue successfully within the framework of the Erasmus+ Exchange Program funded by the European Union. In the fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic year, as part of the Erasmus+ KA1 Exchange Program, second-year master’s students of the Architecture department of Milan Polytechnic University - Italian citizens Kevin Prenna and Danyal Zarepourmoghaddam, got the opportunity to study at AzUAC.

Danyal Zarepourmoghaddam, originally from Iran, did not randomly choose Baku. In the conversation with us, he spoke about the reasons for he preferred Azerbaijan among the countries offered within the framework of the exchange program. “We have always had conversations about Azerbaijan at home and my parents talked a lot about Baku being a city with its antiquity, unique architecture, and how it combines modernity with history. I became acquainted with Baku indirectly from my childhood, then I got interested on the internet and researched, and fell in love with Baku. As soon as the opportunity arose at the university, I chose your country. I wanted to use the chance provided by the university where I studied, to study here, to get acquainted closely with the history, culture, and architectural monuments of Azerbaijan, and even to consider opportunities to work here after completing my education.”

Upon coming to Azerbaijan, Danyal expressed that he was not satisfied with some attempts to modernize antiquity in certain places, despite his enjoyment of exploring IcheriSheher (the Old City), Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahs’ Palace, and other historical places.

Danyal also shared his impressions about the classes held at AzUAC, emphasizing the warm and caring attitude of Azerbaijani teachers towards them and their eagerness to teach more. “The quality of classes at the university is good; your teachers try to teach students even the smallest details.”

Another student, Kevin Prenna, returned to his country after passing the semester exams, so we could not learn his impressions about his university, Azerbaijan, and Baku.
