UN Development Programme Information Seminar


Today, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzUAC) hosted an information seminar on "Technical Assistance for the Preparation of Azerbaijan's Fourth National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change" and the EU4Climate Projects. The seminar, organized by the UN Development Programme, was attended by representatives from the Milli Majlis (Parliament), the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, various government agencies, and other higher education institutions.

 

In her opening remarks, AzUAC's rector, Professor Gulchohra Mammadova, provided participants with information about the university's educational potential and achievements in this field. She emphasized the active participation of university faculty and students in mitigation and adaptation measures for climate change. The rector highlighted the existing potential for collaboration between AzUAC and the UN Development Programme in this area.

 

Representatives of the UN Development Programme, including Ms. Charu Bist and Mr. Chinigiz Mammadov, as well as Mr. Shamil Mammadov from the Milli Majlis and Mr. Yashar Karimov from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and other experts delivered speeches discussing ongoing efforts and future tasks related to climate change in the country. The speakers expressed their hope that cooperation between the UN Development Programme and AzUAC in educating about climate change and conducting awareness-raising activities in this field would strengthen further in the future.
